Furniture for homes
I'm Mark. I make furniture by hand in a workshop overlooking the North Sea in Robin Hood's Bay, North Yorkshire.
Not long ago I was working in the corporate world. It was easier there, and considerably more financially rewarding. But when I moved to the North East something shifted. The landscape, the pace, the light off the water — it gave me the courage to make a change I'd been putting off for years. I built a workshop. I picked up my tools. And I haven't looked back.
I want to take you on a journey from an idea to reality. Working with me isn't an impulse purchase — I understand that. It's a considered decision to introduce a modern heirloom into your family. Something made entirely by hand, from real materials, built to last not just a lifetime but several. Something that can be passed through the generations.
People sometimes say they're buying a piece of furniture. I think they're buying something more than that. They're investing in a person. They're choosing to create a small piece of personal history.
There is a cost to that, and I genuinely accept it's more than most people can afford. But the alternative — furniture that becomes dated, broken, or useless within a few years — has its own cost. To your pocket eventually, and to the planet immediately.
What I do is about sustainability. It's about making things properly. And it's about working at a pace that the modern world has largely forgotten.
I'm not trying to change the world. I'm just trying to make beautiful things, one piece at a time, in a workshop by the sea.
